BLOG POST - Briefly introduction of yourself. Since this course is about matching the media to your audience, also include a description of the best/worst advertising message you remember (could be a print ad, radio, television commercial, interactive kiosk or website, etc.) Why do you remember the advertised message? Was it the jingle, the graphic, or the interaction with that was memorable? Welcome your other classmates and respond to the memory they shared.
I'm Angel and I have just about a year left. The best advertising message that has stayed with me were the ads for My Little Pony in the 80's. I remember the song and the bright cartoons. i wanted a my little pony soooo bad. I only got the knock offs and I wouldn't play with them because they weren't the real thing. The worst message that still keeps me was the guess who game where the people who bought the game based on the commercial expected the people to talk and when they didn't they returned the box and the next round of commercials had the disclaimer that the faces didn't actually talk.

Hi Angel, Glad to be working with you again. Only one year! Good for you. This masters will make it easier to get a job, I think. Are you planning on getting into a school when your own kids are old enough to be in school?
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad little pony story. There is a whole area of ad study of what ads like McDonalds do to kids, are they more moldable at an early age, does an early McD commerical ensure you will go there as an adult? interesting. I also remember the clue game ads. I think they have had to clean up the hot wheels ads and other toy cars, they use to make it appear that they did things they could not, too real. I think these first three weeks will move pretty fast. I have it in mind to redo them. I wrote the class with someone who never taught but had her masters in multimedia. IF you ever see a week that you wnat to throw something else into or exchange for another topic, just let me know. Have a good week. Alison
I'm not sure about where I want to teach yet. I'm a little worried since i've been studing for my place test in april. The questions on the study guide are asking for touque engine equations.
ReplyDeleteI wonder about ads i know that i push my kids to watch seasme street because it a "good" show but then I find myself buying all the stuff that goes along with it. My kids are walking advertisements and I'm not sure I like that. i know my son loves the "Cars" movie and so he wants to wear the shoes, socks, underwear, shirt, pants ect. I wonder how much of it I give in to the mouse. we go to the ice shows we buy the cups and 10 popcorn that comes in the keepsake. I'm bad I know but I enjoy it as much as the kids do.
And of course I push the toys i wanted as a kid like the my little pony. She doesn't like them, nor the cabbage patch kids. But she does love guess who.
